The DN50 Electrofusion Threaded Coupling is a fitting used for transitions in small-diameter pipelines. It connects equipment (such as water meters, small-diameter valves, etc.) to the pipeline. One type is the Female Threaded Coupling (with a threaded end), which connects to the external thread of equipment by tightening it onto the pipeline interface. The other type is the Male Threaded Coupling (with a threaded end), which is used to install equipment with an internal threaded port by tightening it onto the fitting's threaded end. This Electrofusion Threaded coupling is a short, compact component that connects directly to equipment.
One end of the coupling is an electrofusion socket, used for joining with PE pipes via electrofusion welding. To form a sealed, integral connection at the threaded end, sealant tape or thread sealant is typically applied. Due to its well-designed thread structure and effective sealing measures, this fitting is suitable for terminal devices like meters and other instruments. It reliably connects underlying infrastructure (e.g., pipe joints between building floors or irrigation layers) and is also ideal for locations requiring subsequent connection points for maintenance or extension.

Electrofusion Fitting Welding Instructions
Before operation, always wear insulated gloves and safety goggles. Check the welder plug for damage. After using a scraper to prepare the pipe surface, place the tool in a safe location to avoid injury. Ensure all welder connectors are securely attached without loose contacts to prevent short-circuit sparks or overheating/fire. Keep flammable or explosive materials away from the welder. After welding, never cool the joint with water, as rapid cooling can cause cracks. Only unplug and store the welder after disconnecting the power. Consider weatherproof storage outdoors to prevent rain or moisture-related hazards.
Common Issues & Solutions
Issue
The welder displays "Welding Failure," but the Electrofusion Threaded coupling shows no visible abnormalities. The cause is unclear.
Solution
Check if the welder is functioning correctly; try a different welder or electrode plug. Verify that the coupling specifications match the welding parameters. If failure persists, replace the coupling, as internal heating element damage may cause a false weld.
Issue
Stress cracking occurs between the metal thread insert and the plastic body, especially in low temperatures.
Solution
Avoid mechanical impact on the joint in cold environments. Select couplings made from low-temperature resistant materials or insulate the pipeline. During installation, avoid over-tightening the threads to minimize internal stress.
Electrofusion vs. Butt Fusion Fittings
Electrofusion and butt fusion fittings are specialized components for plastic pipelines. The key difference is that Electrofusion Threaded fittings do not require butt alignment and pressure control. Instead, they use an integrated resistor to heat the pipe end, creating a chemical bond. This method is well-suited for complex terrain. Butt fusion, however, uses a heated plate to melt the pipe ends, which are then pressed together. This process is more susceptible to operator technique. Electrofusion generally provides more consistent weld integrity and uniform tensile strength, whereas butt fusion can sometimes result in partial fusion.
